Our Journey: Over 30 Years of Custom Kitchen Craftsmanship and Quality

In 1996, Harrington Kitchens was established in a modest home office. Our founder, Mark, who was working in the wardrobe industry at the time, identified a gap in the market for new kitchen renovations. He observed a lack of care, professionalism, and transparency within the industry. This prompted Mark to take a leap of faith in himself and his vision to approach kitchen renovations in a whole new way.

Mark needed to show his work firsthand and so he crafted his first showroom in his home office. He then started inviting customers to experience the quality of his work. This effort was a key turning point. His commitment to quality design and customer care spread quickly in the community.

Mark's journey began when he landed his first client through a friend's connection in the industry. This opportunity opened the door to a lasting partnership with the esteemed German hardware brand, Hettich. Completing that initial kitchen project fired up Mark's enthusiasm for going the extra mile, ensuring his clients enjoyed not just an outstanding kitchen but also a truly memorable overall experience.

As Harrington Kitchens reputation for quality design and customer care grew. The brand moved from Mark’s humble home to a small manufacturing facility in Narellan.

In 2004, Harrington Kitchens won its first of many awards, receiving a Local Small Business Award.

In early 2004, the landlord of Harrington Kitchens small factory in Narellan suggested that Mark consider moving to a more spacious facility right next door. This relocation proved to be a pivotal moment, allowing Harrington Kitchens to grow and better meet the increasing demand for kitchen renovations.

Along with the move to the new factory in 2005 came the introduction of a brand new showroom. This addition gave customers a dedicated space to explore kitchen designs, materials, and finishes firsthand. The showroom not only elevated the customer experience but also reflected the growing professionalism and scale of the Harrington Kitchens brand.

Before Mark earned his Kitchen & Bathroom License in 2005, clients had to organise separate trades like plumbing and electrical themselves. Gaining this license was a turning point. It allowed Harrington Kitchens to legally include all required trades in our quotes, offering clients a fully managed renovation service. The Department of Fair Trade was impressed by Mark’s industry knowledge and attention to detail, and were more than happy to grant him his contractor’s license.

Over the years, Mark has made many improvements. One of these was creating a painting facility in the Narellan factory. This facility guarantees that customers receive quality custom-painted joinery. This step ensured Harrington Kitchens handles everything from design to installation in-house. This keeps quality as the top priority.

In 2011, another kitchen company asked Mark to take over their Mittagong Kitchen showroom lease. This opportunity marked the beginning of Harrington Kitchens’ physical presence in the Southern Highlands. An area we had proudly served for over 15 years.

In 2018, the landlord of the Mittagong kitchen showroom decided to sell, but with a strong customer base in the area, Harrington Kitchens wanted to ensure continued service for its clients. As a result, the showroom was relocated to Bowral to better serve the community.

In 2024, Harrington Kitchens was honoured with winning the 2024 Australian Small Business Champion Award in the Kitchen Improvement category, a proud recognition of our dedication to excellence in design, craftsmanship, and customer service.
