21 Mar How to Properly Load Your Dishwasher
The Dishwasher is a necessity in many people’s kitchens that is time saving. But many load their washer incorrectly, resulting in taking more time to clean crockery. Follow our tips below to ensure your dishwasher isn’t costing you time:
- Place glassware in between tines rather than on the tines
Try not to place glasses on the bottom rack as the top rack is designed specifically for glasses, which delivers a gentle wash so glasses won’t crack. This will prevent watermarks and cracks while the wash cycle is on. Another tip is to try angle the cups as much as your washer allows to avoid pools of water.
- Reorganise your utensil tray
Instead of opening up your dishwasher and still seeing food stuck to your utensils, try to vary their position by placing some upside down or identical utensils such as spoon and forks into different sections to allow soap to get in between everything easier.
- Plate Direction
Organise your plates to all be facing the middle of the dishwasher as this area is where the detergent is dispensed and rotating spray arms are. This will allow for a more effective wash. Additionally, place large plates, cutting boards or platters on either the sides or back of the washer to allow detergent to reach the entire load.
- Avoid over loading your Dishwasher
Over loading results in water not circulating around all areas of the washer as there is no room to move, leaving your dishes dirty. Thus, a rule of thumb is to allow sufficient space between utensils by placing crockery in the space provided. Also, hand washing some items will help to ease the work of the dishwasher if you’re loading large quantities into both racks.
These tips will help to maintain a clean dishwasher that will make daily cleaning effective, easy and working for many years to come.
