Renovating or installing a new kitchen looks beautiful but slightly bare without any décor pieces. Don’t fear we are here to help. Before decorating take into consideration our tips to help you avoid any decorating dilemmas.

Seats

Don’t throw away old seats or furniture, get items refurbished and painted to save money and reuse what you have. Additionally, it is important to choose seats that are the correct height for your kitchen. Most counters are 36 inches high so we recommend using chairs that are 60 cms high and 75 cms for bar stools to suit your kitchen comfortably.

Lighting

Pendant lighting over a kitchen island is the grandest way to add an amazing focal point into your kitchen. Though a common issue is the height at which lights have been hung and their size. Too high and they are not visible, too low and you can bump your head while working, and if it’s large you will not be able to see through or around it. So, what do you do? We recommend choosing a pendant that is greater in height than width for more space between lighting to allow the rest of the kitchen shine through and these styles allow for more workspace. Also hang pendants at least 70 cms from your bench to avoid closing your kitchen in, if the lights are too low.

Bench top Accessories

Add finishing touches to the heart of your home with accessories. Trays add a uniquely curated stage to display both additions to your kitchen theme and as storage for regularly used items. Place a magazine, candle, flowers, add some lemons and even utensils in a jar for an organised mess that just works. For those who want something more practical try incorporating bold coloured appliances. These appliances can be left on your bench top when they are not in use as a statement piece to compliment your kitchen décor scheme.

Storage

Open shelving and glass cabinets are great opportunities to display collectables to help bring style into your kitchen. Place down lights in glass cabinets to show off your items or choose a colour theme for display items on your shelving for a sharp look. Though, a simple mistake is to add too many items in one space, which will make the space, look cramped and cluttered.
