When you need some kitchen design ideas – just look to the stars for inspiration.

Kitchen design ideas come from all over. There are experts who specialise in country kitchens, those who prefer Hamptons-style, and others who are more French Provincial inclined. But one thing for sure, there is an endless choice of kitchen design ideas to select from!

Kitchen designs are highly personal and are often a glimpse into a home owner’s personality. And with the abundance of choices available the task of tackling ideas for a kitchen design can be a little overwhelming for some.

There are on-trend kitchen design ideas and others which have past their trendy days. But when it comes to kitchen design ideas there is no one-design-fits-all cure.

So, how do you choose which kitchen design ideas to use as inspiration?

Just check in with the experts and curate some kitchen design ideas for yourself.

Without further ado following are words of inspiration to get your kitchen designing juices flowing.

Black and white

A staple for many things, black and white have been partnered through time and continues to be a killer combination in a lot of kitchen designs. One of our Harrington Kitchens design experts, Scott Green, tends to agree. Scott says,

“Bold satin black door finish combined with beautiful white granite bench tops and splashbacks provides a unique, striking combination”.

You can integrate black and white in many features of a kitchen – the more traditional of those being cabinetry and splashbacks. However, matte black tapware, sinks, and stone features are a huge trend in kitchen designs right now. We have made some pretty impressive kitchens with these design features.

Speaking about one of our recent projects, Scott Green said the use of black was a masterstroke with designing a kitchen hinted towards French Provincial with an element of Hamptons styling.

“Black granite splashbacks combined with black mirastar was a brave decision which ultimately proved to be the crowning statement of the beautiful kitchen”, he said.

Brickwork splashbacks

Industrial chic and a texture feast for the eyes, brickwork splashbacks can add some powerful impact to a kitchen. As a common kitchen design idea, if you are opting for this textural beauty you might want to bear in mind some aesthetics.

Darren Palmer, celebrity interior designer, says there is a simple way around protecting the brickwork when you’re cooking up a storm.

“The brickwork as a splashback idea is a great textural one, just make sure you either have a return above your cook top to save tomato sauces and other oily splashes getting into your lovely, but porous brickwork”, he says [1].

Bench space

Bench space is not only a necessity for preparing meals and entertaining, it is a huge factor when selling your home too. People will always take note of how much bench space is available.

Darren Palmer says bench space is not a kitchen design idea to be ignored.

“A big island bench is always a winner, but whether the kitchen is u-shaped, gallery or features an island, make sure your kitchen has plenty of bench space.”

For more kitchen design idea inspiration – start by looking through different kitchen designs and selecting the elements which take your fancy the most.

If you are designing a forever family home, you can afford to take a few more risks with kitchen design ideas to make it uniquely you. However, as Darren Palmer says, be a little less risky with investment properties.

“If you are planning on selling, I encourage people to do their research and know the market. Each market is different and it’s important to de diligent and understand this before starting”.
