U-Shaped Kitchens and their Challenges

U-Shaped Kitchens and their Challenges

The U-shaped kitchen is a popular kitchen layout choice as it is open, has plenty of kitchen bench space for everyone to work on and leaves the center of the kitchen open for a table or kitchen island.

The U-shaped kitchen (also called the C-shaped kitchen) effectively uses the kitchen work triangle we hear so much about in kitchen design. Click here to read more about the kitchen triangle work zone.

Often in U-shape kitchens, the cabinets are installed lower and are harder to access for storage purposes and the kitchen layout doesn’t promote socializing. However, if your U-shaped kitchen is wide enough in design, it can accommodate a kitchen island for extra storage, kitchen benchtop space and a designated entertaining area to gather around.

If you want a more allocated seating area in your U-shaped kitchen, a sleek and modern peninsula can act as both a kitchen island and a kitchen table for dining. For tips on how to choose the right kitchen island, click here.

The U-shaped kitchen can work for a small, medium or large kitchen spaces. In a larger kitchen space, this allows room for people to move around with ease with worrying you will be in someone’s way.

I really like U-shaped kitchens for the fact you do have to kitchen triangle. You have a designated area to everything that needs to be done in a kitchen. Whilst also allowing it to be a versatile area to socialise.
